THUAS AI & Data Science Ecosystem

How do we help companies to work on a sustainable future? How do we help the elderly live more comfortable in their own homes? What does the future of work look like? At THUAS, more than 27000 students, teachers, researchers and support staff work daily on solutions to social issues like these. Artificial Intelligence and data science help us take on these challenges for and with external partners.

We want to provide you with tools and solutions. This is how we work towards a sustainable society. Our mission is to provide solutions to global questions and challenges through education and practice oriented research, with a special focus on our own region.

We educate critical, flexible and adaptable professionals who are used to thinking beyond the boundaries of scientific disciplines. This multidisciplinary approach also characterizes our work in the field of AI and Data Science. We apply our experience from different fields to take on challenges in Health, Industry and Safety.

In all fields, our approach to developing and using data responsibly is: human-centric, trustworthy, secure, sustainable and inclusive.

THUAS has been awarded the UNESCO Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Society. The chair enables THUAS to contribute even more to a livable and sustainable future, both locally and globally.

Combining Education and Research

We conduct practice oriented research. We educate students and professionals. We do that in collaboration with businesses and organisations.

At The Hague University of Applied Sciences we bring students, teachers and researchers together. We have six Centres of Expertise with over thirty research groups. We build the connection between education, professional practice and society at large.

We focus on questions coming directly from organisations and companies. In most cases these organisations are actively involved in the research projects.

Our "Teacher-Researchers' stand at the core of our research groups. They use research projects as an opportunity to teach the students and to involve them in projects with external partners.

Interested in working with these research groups? Check out our Collaboration page for more details or contact us.

Educational Programs

We have over 65 bachelor's degree programs. In many of them, AI and Data Science are becoming hot topics. For example, in business, finance, marketing, public management, law, high tech industry and health. And in some programmes it is central, for example in the bachelor programmes Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics and HBO ICT. In our programmes, our students learn largely by working on real-life challenges.

Our programmes offer students and organizations opportunities to interact in a variety of opportunities: in internships or in smaller programs or modules with groups of students guided by teachers or researchers. We can work on questions that require quick solutions or more challenging issues. These are just some of the possibilities. Check out our collaboration page for more details.

Professional Education

THUAS offers a growing range of opportunities for professional Education. The part-time MBA programme Big Data Analytics is designed for working professionals who want to advance their education and career while continuing to work.

The Hague University of Applied Science is the lead manager of WE-IT2.0, a collaboration between companies, educational institutions and governments with the aim of training 3,000 people in IT and digitalisation through retraining and further education.
