Work with us!
We'll help you put data science and AI into action! Learn more about the various ways to collaborate with our education programs, research groups, teachers, researchers and students.
Let’s get in touchWe offer various ways to collaborate. We work together with different companies to use AI and Data Science to create solutions for a better future. In our research groups and educational programs, students can get involved in several stages of our projects.
Data collection
We draw up a clear problem statement in consultation with a company we collaborate with. What do we want to achieve and what conditions must this meet? We develop hardware and software to collect data. Safe and ethically sound data collection is crucial.
Strategic planning
We use AI and Data Science for predictive and prescriptive analyses, for example for maintenance on machines or predicting sales numbers. Continuing observed patterns, taking into account all kinds of factors and variables, allows organisations to plan ahead.
Crunching numbers
Many organisations have large amounts of data about their processes, but in most cases these data were not collected with specific goals in mind. So we check which data is available, what the quality of this data is, what format it is in and whether additional datasets are needed.
Finding solutions
By combining expertise on AI and Data Science with domain-specific knowledge we help organisations identify the problems that can be tackled with the use of AI or Data Science
Analysing data
Inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions, and supporting decision-making. We develop and apply ever smarter algorithms that can, for example, recognize patterns and make predictions based on them.
Creative minds
We educate critical thinkers. Our students tend to think out of the box and come up with new ideas. Combine that with the creative minds of our teachers and researchers and we have a recipe for innovation.
Collaboration in research projects
Do you need our support with an AI or Data Science-related project? We welcome collaborations with external partners. We work with companies, universities, hospitals, researchers and municipalities, both locally in the Netherlands and internationally. Are you interested in applying AI or data science techniques? We can help you.
We conduct practice-oriented research. Which means that we focus on questions that come directly from organisations and companies. In most cases, these organisations are actively involved in the research projects. There are several ways to collaborate with our researchers:
Externally funded projects: focusing on questions originating from (professionals working in) SMEs, large companies or public organisations or because of the intended knock-on effect, the answer to the question meets a current need in professional practice. In this form of collaboration, you are involved in the start of the project and the funding application. In general, these projects need some run-up time and provide the opportunity for multi-year (2-4) research and collaboration. During the run-up time, preparatory research can be done.
Contract research: focused on a specific question or assignment from an organisation and carried out at the client's expense. The main advantage of this mode of collaboration is that projects can usually start at short notice.
Are you looking to innovate with the use of data science or AI? And are you looking for expert researchers to help you on your path to innovation? Check out our research groups, find the group that might be able to help you and get into contact with them through their contact information. Not sure which group might best be able to help you? Send your idea or questions to Haags-Ai-datalab@hhs.nl and we will try to relay your question to the right group.
Collaboration with educational programmes and students
In minor programmes or modules groups of students - guided by teachers or researchers - can work on specific questions from organisations. These can be questions that require quick solutions. But by having groups of students build on each other's work, it is also possible to tackle more complex issues. The coordinators of our minor programmes are often looking for new partners to set up student projects with.
Are you curious about what our students have to offer? Take a look at the different education programmes to get an overview of the kinds of topics our students could work on. Our minors usually offer the most flexibility, so be sure to check those out. Not sure which programme or minor offers the best opportunities? Send your idea or questions to Haags-Ai-datalab@hhs.nl
Are you looking for one or more interns to help you address your questions in-company? If so, Haags-Ai-datalab@hhs.nl would also be happy to help. Or check out the career service offices of our various faculties.
Professional Education
THUAS offers a growing range of opportunities for professional education. The part-time MBA programme Big Data Analytics is created for working professionals who want to advance their education and career while continuing to work. The Hague is the leader of WE-IT, a collaboration between companies, educational institutions and municipalities with the aim of training 3,000 people in the direction of IT and digitalisation. On the we-itwerkt.nl website, employers can easily find information about the various training programmes in South Holland. Partners get direct access to the talents who have followed the training programmes, but it is also possible to develop their own training programmes. In addition, the consortium wants to help SMEs in digitalisation issues.
MKB Digiwerkplaats
The MKB Digiwerkplaats brings MBO and HBO education and business life together to offer support to entrepreneurs. For example, making business processes more efficient, capitalising on the opportunities of digital marketing to reach more customers and the smart use of data to better understand customer behaviour.
Internships
As an intern in a research group, you will gain experience in hands-on research and work with our various partners. Our research groups work on a range of innovative projects with small and large companies or public organizations. In our research groups, we involve students at several stages of our projects. Whether it is developing machine learning algorithms to predict market performances or building and testing equipment for data collection. Our team of researchers will guide you through the project and provide support and educational materials as needed. By working on one of our projects, you will gain experience in the world of Data Science and AI, learn how to document your work in scientific papers, and maybe even join a conference trip to present your results.
Interested in working on our projects? Check out our project pages and contact the related research group.
Educational programs
We offer a wide range of educational programs, from bachelor's and master's programs to minors. Check out our programs on our page.
